    Travel experts reveal 19 European cities to visit 'before they get too popular' | Europe | Travel

    Many Brits have a favorite holiday destination they like to fly to each year, but some may be looking to venture off the beaten path.

    This shift in vacation habits has caused some cities to suddenly see a surge in tourism, and it looks like even more cities may see an increase in tourism in the coming years.

    With this in mind, one travel expert shared a list of cities that are set to become even more popular in the coming years and advised people to travel to them now to get ahead of the tourism boom.

    Travel influencer Simon Block, who posts on Instagram as @travelmorewithsimon, has shared 19 cities he says are “must visit before they become popular”.

    In the caption he added: “How many times have you been there? Traveling is all about the thrill of exploring new places, meeting people, and experiencing the world from a fresh perspective.

    “Make the world your playground, not your debt. A fulfilling life comes from a well-traveled heart, not from deep pockets.”

    Topping Simon's list is Georgia's capital Tbilisi, with holidaymakers already reporting finding hotel rooms as cheap as £10, making it a great choice for those looking for a budget holiday while exploring new places. is the perfect place.

    Next on the list were Riga and Porto in Latvia, with many of Simon's supporters claiming that the Portuguese cities were already incredibly popular. One commenter wrote: “Porto already receives 2.5 million tourists a year and is extremely popular.”

    Another added: “I went to Porto 6 years ago and it was crowded then. I can imagine what it's like now.”

    The list also included other cities such as Bologna, Gdańsk, Valletta and Madeira, which commenters claimed were already heavily touristized.

    Other commenters shared their own experiences in these places, with one avid traveler writing, “This year I went to Gdańsk, Plovdid and Sarajevo. Great cities and I've already visited major European capitals. It's an alternative for some people.”

    And the second said: “I went to Kaunas 20 years ago and loved it. From there I traveled to Nida with its beautiful dunes and Klaipėda by the sea. It's a very nice country.''
