South African travel technology startup Conservio raises second round of funding led by E4E Africa, with additional investment from angel investors including Volve Capital, Living Hope Ventures and Payfast founder Jonathan Smit raised R19 million ($1 million). Founded in 2020, Conservio focuses on connecting travelers with nature-based properties that prioritize habitat protection and sustainability. The funding will help us expand our portfolio to more than 2,000 properties across southern Africa and grow our customer base.
Bas Hochstenbach, Managing Partner of E4E Africa, highlighted the Conservio's potential to drive sustainable growth, create local jobs and generate income for conservation activities. Co-founder Justin Reinberg noted that there is a growing demand for personalized travel and a seamless online booking experience, especially among tech-savvy travelers seeking unique stays in natural environments. This investment will enable Conservio to support ecotourism, promote sustainable travel in Africa and achieve significant growth.
