The post office warned people who book vacations abroad this year and made important checks.

The company states that there is a risk of thousands of risks because it was unable to check the effectiveness of passport before booking a trip.

A survey conducted by the post office found that a quarter (25 %) of Brit acknowledged that he would never confirm his passport. There is almost no room to correct mistakes.

The company has also warned people on vacations to recognize the 10 -year passport rules for traveling to the European Union (EU).

When visiting the EU such as Spain, France, Greece, the passport must be valid for three months, and the issuance date must be within 10 years of departure date.

In addition, when traveling to some destinations, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Dubai, and Thailand, the effectiveness of a six -month passport is recommended or needed.

The post office states: “The survey shows that the quarter (25 %) is not aware of the 10 -year passport rules for traveling to the destination of the EU, but 23 % are 6 months of valid requirements in a specific country. I didn't know.

“In fact, it is unlikely that almost a quarter (24 %) will update a passport, even if it expires within six months of the planned trip, as a result, thousands of travelers. You may believe that your passport is valid because it has not expired. “

The British government states that it takes about three weeks to process a new passport, but in some cases it may take time, such as when you need to interview.

If you apply online, it costs £ 88.50 to update or replace your passport, or 100 pounds for paper forms.

If your passport is urgently needed, you can quickly track your application, which costs additional costs. You can pay £ 207.50 for one -day premium service. Alternatively, if you select a weekly high -speed track service, it costs 166.50 pounds for adults and 135.50 pounds for children.

Even if your passport is Burgundy or if the cover has a “European Union”, it can be provided for travel.

The post office is added as follows. “The post office data indicates that January is the peak time of the passport update. From 2024 to March to March, the passport update increased by 69 % at the post office branch. I did.

“Since the government recommends a three -week update process, it is essential to act quickly to avoid extra costs and confusion prior to February in February.”
