One of Clockworld Conservation Center's most famous residents will be on display again this year. Norris the stork is being reintroduced to a mate in hopes of producing more marabou storks.
This is one of Clockworld's many breeding programs that promote genetic diversity in endangered species. Norris has had great success with the program, producing numerous chicks over the years, including two last year.
Busani Mthiyane, Animal Curator at Clockworld, said: “We are patiently monitoring and observing his behavior towards his mates. The introduction of this marabou stork is aimed at increasing reproduction rates as there are currently two males and one female on display. Ta.”
Marabou storks breed only during the dry season and play an important role in the ecosystem by feeding on carcasses. Don't miss your chance to visit Norris and his friends at Clockworld!
