ITA prepares an exit from SkyTeam and expects Star Membership in 2026.

Italian career ITA Airways is to resign SkyTeam Alliance in favor of rival alliance to start integration with strategic partner Lufthansa Group.

Ita Airways expects to complete the process of participating in the STAR by the beginning of 2026.

The LUFTHANSA Group has acquired a small number of shares from the previously owned airline by the Italian government.

ITA appeared in 2020, as the government tried to establish a successor to the flag career Alitalia, which had a problem.

At first, he agreed to maintain Alitalia's loyalty to the Sky Team in 2021. Alitalia was tasting the alliance 20 years ago.

However, following a tie -up with LUFTHANSA Group, ITA Airways marked another important European alliance after Star members switched to SKYTEAM last September.

ITA's highest executive officer, Joerg Eberhart, has confirmed that the change has been “confirmed” because it announced the first set of commercial initiatives under LUFTHANSA transactions.

The exit phase from SkyTeam will end on April 30. “(We) will start the process of participating in the Star Alliance soon,” says Eberhart.

He states that the new initiative has code sharing, harmonious connection, ITA operation to Luhtan Satamal in Germany, and partnership between career royalty programs.

“But this is just the beginning,” he says. “We will continue to work to provide new benefits to customers in the coming weeks and in the coming weeks.”
