“I visited Cancun in January and was shocked by the weather” |Travel News |Travel

Cancun tourists shared funny videos online to show others the weather in Cancun in January.

Lorena Cruz posted a video on TikTok of pouring rain in the Cancun Hotel Zone in Benito Juarez, Mexico, a popular area for hotels, resorts and vacation rentals. Cancun is a Mexican city with a tropical climate, so most days are warm and sunny.

Travel agent Thomas Cook said the rainy season runs from May to October, and Lorena may have chosen the wrong time to holiday there. “POV: You're going to Cancun to tan in mid-January,” the TikTok user wrote at the beginning of the video.

She then moves the camera to show a storm dumping heavy rain across the resort hotel floor. Interestingly, she added audio of a person crying in the background of the video while saying, “My savings, my savings, my money!”

The eight-second clip has received 276,000 views, 4,205 likes and over 100 comments. It was also shared more than 1,000 times, further spreading awareness about the current weather situation in Cancun.

One TikTok user commented: “Typical of Cancun and its unstable climate, hahaha it will be sunny tomorrow (I live here).” Another resident said, “I live here, and it seems like it's been raining every week since June (lol), but last year it hardly rained.'' .

A third user added: I don't feel so bad anymore. ”

Another user, who had also been to a Mexican city in October, claimed to have been “hit by” a hurricane. Another user joked: “That was the worst date. I didn't mean to get a tan, hahahaha.”

Lorena replied, “Hehe, actually it only rained that afternoon, and the weather was nice the rest of the day.”

The Japan Meteorological Agency states that Cancun's tropical climate “means it has both wet and dry seasons, but temperatures are 30 degrees Celsius all year round.” Additionally, “Sea temperatures are at their highest in September and October, which also means the risk of hurricanes is higher during this period.

“Cancun is a popular destination for water sports fans due to its warm sea temperatures. November to April is Cancun's dry season, so expect prices to peak during this time.”

Cancun is known for its beaches, resorts, and nightlife. The city offers a variety of water activities, including diving, fishing, snorkeling, and parasailing. But don't expect the weather to be 100% sunny.
