(MENAFN – Middle East Information) Saudi Arabian travelers are increasingly exploring regional and international destinations, with notable increases in bookings to Egypt, India and Europe.

RIYADH: Wego, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) largest travel app and largest online travel marketplace, has released its latest insights on travel trends for Saudi travelers in the first quarter of 2025. The data reflects significant changes. Travel activity increases during the critical period that coincides with Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. This period is traditionally a peak time for both expats returning home and locals looking for vacation opportunities.
    Wego Insights: here

    Travel trends for Q1 2025:
Saudi Arabian travelers are increasingly booking trips abroad, with the most popular destinations including Egypt, India, Pakistan, UAE, and Jordan, according to Wego's latest data. These countries are popular for their cultural ties and proximity, making them ideal choices for short breaks and family vacations. Additionally, there has been a notable increase in travel to European destinations, with Saudi Arabia bookings increasing in the UK, Azerbaijan and Russia. This surge is due to these destinations offering streamlined visa options such as eVisa and ETA, which simplify the travel planning process. Despite the surge in international bookings, domestic travel remains an important part of the travel industry. Approximately 27.30% of all bookings for travel itineraries from January to March were for destinations within Saudi Arabia. Jeddah and Riyadh in particular are attracting a lot of attention. Riyadh is also seeing a surge in tourism thanks to the Riyadh Season Festival, which runs until March 1, 2025. The festival offers a variety of family-friendly activities in keeping with the cool winter weather. “Insights on the Saudi market in Q1 2025 reveal balanced interest in both regional and international destinations,” said Mamoun Humidan, Chief Business Officer at Wego. Data highlights the importance of cultural ties and easy access to travel in shaping these options. Travel activity continues to grow due to increased demand for international travel and streamlined visa procedures. I expect that to happen.” Wego is committed to providing our users with the best options and experiences, whether traveling domestically or internationally. ” Preferred destinations for Q1 2025:
Wego's booking data shows that Egypt, Pakistan and India continue to rank as the most popular destinations for Saudi travelers. The appeal of these places lies in their deep cultural and historical ties to Saudi Arabia, as well as the opportunity for family reunions during the festive season. In Europe, the United Kingdom, Azerbaijan and Russia have also emerged as top destinations for Saudi nationals. These countries are known for offering streamlined visa processes and are now easily accessible to Saudi travelers through e-visa and ETA applications, increasing the appeal of a quick and hassle-free vacation. Masu. Domestic travel remains strong:
While international travel bookings are surging, domestic travel remains strong. Riyadh and Jeddah are the most popular cities in Saudi Arabia, and the Riyadh Season Festival attracts a lot of attention. The event continues to attract locals and tourists alike with a variety of entertainment, making it a must-visit attraction during the cooler months.
