This cute park is a favorite in Europe, but it's not what you'd expect.

No city is complete without great parks, and there's so much to explore around the world.

When visiting a new city, green spaces offer an opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and spend time reconnecting with nature.

Not only that, the park is also used as a cultural hub in many major cities. Often times, museums, events, or iconic landmarks may be hidden away.

Research by Iglu Cruise reveals the world's highest-rated parks by using TripAdvisor data to determine which have the highest percentage of “excellent” or 5-star reviews.

It's no surprise that Central Park took the number one spot.

But Parque del Retiro in Madrid, Spain is Europe's most beloved park.

With an excellent rating of 71.5%, the park was originally designed as a royal garden for Philip IV. It remained a private space for Spanish royalty from the late 19th century until it was opened to the public.

One of the park's most iconic features is the large lake where visitors can rent rowboats throughout the year.

There is also the Royal Botanical Garden, a beautiful green space with thousands of plant species.

One Tripadvisor visitor said: “We had a fun afternoon at Parque Del Retiro.

“We stumbled upon fascinating carvings and a calm lake. Renting a rowboat was a highlight as we laughed and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere.

“This park is the perfect escape for couples looking for a romantic getaway within the city!”

The top 10 parks with the highest percentage of excellent reviews are:

Central Park – New York City, USA -77.8%

Stanley Park – Vancouver, Canada -76.7%

Balboa Park – San Diego, USA -74.4%

Parc del Retiro – Madrid, Spain – 71.5%

    Regent's Park – London, United Kingdom -71.4%

Hyde Park – London, UK -68.4%

English Garden – Munich, Germany -68.3%

Luxembourg Gardens – Paris, France -8.2%

Golden Gate Park – San Francisco, USA -66.8%

Phoenix Park – Dublin, Ireland -66.4%
