Emirates Airline Group is drawing international attention to Uganda's growing tourism sector by highlighting the unique charm and iconic charm of the country's equatorial region. Delegations from countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, India and the United Kingdom visited Uganda to promote its products to a global audience. After being welcomed by President Yoweri Museveni, the group explored popular destinations including Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Rwenzori Mountains and Murchison Falls. The initiative marks Emirates' 25th anniversary of operations in Uganda and underlines the airline's commitment to promoting emerging destinations through global connections.
Tourism remains a key pillar of Uganda's economy, with Uganda registering over 1.7 million tourists and generating $1.6 billion in revenue in 2023. Emirates' involvement is expected to further increase visibility, especially in iconic tourist attractions such as Lake Victoria and Uganda's rich biodiversity. The partnership supports global collaboration with stakeholders, including the Uganda Tourism Board, and is also aligned with broader efforts to position Uganda as a leading tourism destination. The simultaneous focus on security, infrastructure and hospitality is expected to increase Uganda's competitiveness in attracting international travellers.
