Cruise experts warn passengers that they are considered “slap in the face” to their hardworking crew.
Lucy Southerton began her career as a teenager massage therapist, spending almost ten years on the cruise ship. However, over the years she has noticed that passengers are doing things to crush the crew's gear.
In particular, she says she is removing gratitude from their bill. Cruisers may feel like a savvy savings, but Lucy says they cut into wages for those working on board.
He said about his cruising as a crew YouTube channel: But unfortunately, they are not. Charm constitutes the basic wages of the crew.
“The reason why cruise lines add appreciation to the crew's wages is to make it possible to promote the cruise less. Cruise payments are less, meaning the chances of a cruise coming and cruises are likely to come It's going to be higher.
“If the cruise line raises the wages of members of the crew to their own, cruising will be much more expensive, so especially if you're your housekeeper and are basically banging them. ,This person has worked really hard for you, so if you do it, it's really not okay to remove the charm, like a s*** move. You get rid of gratitude Then, face.”
Lucy went on to explain that anyone who wants to show their crew extra gratitude should add a little more on the charm. She encourages people to consider this in their budget before arriving on holidays.
Cruise passengers can expect to pay around £15 per day per passenger for the attraction. However, Lucy believes that it is “moral” right for people on holiday to pay.
Fellow cruise expert Gary Bembridge has spent years touring the world on ships. He said that satisfaction was previously a cash tip given directly to the crew, but for many years, cruise lines have become what passengers expect to pay.
In a 2022 video on his tips for travelers, he explained: When I first started cruise, it was just that, we all gave cash tips to the crew who felt we had done a great job.
“We all assume that crews from all departments are getting fair wages, and these were bonuses for passenger crews. Ultimately, the money pool was split. , was argued when it was automated to benefit all sectors that travelled, and it was a much more fair way of doing so.”
Gary also believes that by promoting lower fares, it is being used as a way to “snatch” people as a way to “snatch” people. He now says he wants to budget for “basic thanks” and takes cash to members of the crew who go “over the top” to make the cruise “special.”
