China Eastern Airlines has partnered with China Southern Airlines to provide so-called carrier-to-airline passenger transfer services on flights between Beijing's Daxing Airport and Guangzhou.
The service is believed to be the first of its kind among domestic carriers in China, allowing passengers on the route to “voluntarily” switch flights between two airlines on the route, subject to transfer conditions. It becomes like this.
China Eastern Airlines said: “This is an innovative practice to improve the level of domestic operations. It will further facilitate air links between the two (hubs) and provide passengers with more convenient, efficient and flexible travel options. Masu.”
Both China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines have operating offices at Daxing Airport, but China Southern's main operating hub is in Guangzhou.
Both airlines operate 42 out of 48 daily flights and account for the majority of the route's capacity. The route carried just over 3 million passengers in 2024, according to domestic travel data.
Separately, China Eastern Airlines has outlined its plans for the upcoming Lunar New Year travel season, believing it will see “rapid growth” of around 3% over the 2019 holiday period. There is. The eight-day holiday is one of the peak travel periods in mainland China.
On domestic routes, SkyTeam airlines will increase capacity on so-called “return” routes, i.e. flights from large cities to second- and third-tier cities and to tourist hotspots. China Eastern Airlines announced that it will reduce capacity on domestic trunk routes such as Beijing-Shanghai and Shanghai-Guangzhou and transfer them to second- and third-tier operations.
China Eastern also reported “healthy” advance bookings for international flights to Australia, Japan and South Korea during the Lunar New Year holiday.
