The Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB) has announced new opening hours for Francistown's Philip Ngaonwe Matante International Airport from 23 January 2025. The airport is currently open from 08:00 to 17:00 on weekdays, with opening hours on weekends and public holidays. It will be adjusted according to the scheduled flight time. CAAB said the adjustments reflect current activity levels, but ensure the facility remains equipped to accommodate scheduled, non-scheduled and emergency flights as needed.
Located on the outskirts of Francistown, Botswana's second largest city, the airport serves as an important link to northern Botswana, supporting both domestic flights and limited international flights. This change is intended to optimize resource allocation and streamline operations without compromising quality of service. The airport can accommodate unscheduled and emergency traffic, ensuring continued reliability for both business and leisure travelers. Travel professionals should take note of this updated schedule when planning their itineraries, especially those connecting to popular northern attractions such as game reserves and cultural landmarks.
