For those already planning a summer vacation, there's the perfect Greek island, boasting some of the most beautiful beaches as well as delicious cuisine and ancient ruins to explore.
The Greek island of Crete is perfect for holiday makers and Chania on the northwest coast of Crete. It is known for its stunning beaches.
One of these is Seitan Limania, which translates to Port of Satan, but don't let the ominous name scare you.
Famous for its distinct rocky setting as well as its clear waters, this secluded beach is a must-see. But it's not for the faint of heart.
The road to the beach is steep and winding. Once you reach the parking lot at the top of the cliff, there is a tricky path up to this small bay.
You have to climb rocks and it's steep – so make sure you're wearing suitable shoes. However, the ones at the bottom are worth the trip.
This little cove is gorgeous and home to herds of wild goats who cross the bay in search of unattended picnics.
Watch out for these cheeky animals, as they have no qualms about stealing sandwiches – but they're also happy for a gentle pat and a photo opportunity.
The water is warm as the silver fish repeat, and the surrounding cliffs are perfect for jumping off. Check the depth of the water and hidden rocks before jumping.
In addition to gorgeous beaches, Chania also offers incredible food. The Greek classic gyro can be found almost anywhere in the region and never disappoints. Also, there is no Greek hospitality.
For culture lovers, there are also ancient ruins of the Minoan civilization that can be found throughout Crete.
The ancient city of Falasarna, located north of Falasarna Beach, was an ancient Crete's northwestern polis (city-state) and today makes a perfect day trip for those interested in ancient history.
The city's acropolis includes merchant houses where imported goods were found, as well as wineries, warehouses, and baths. Various coins, pottery and other finds are currently on display at the Archaeological Museum of Chania and the museum in Kissamos.
For those looking to jump on their summer vacation, Jet2 has announced that it will be adding flights to Chania from April 2026.
However, if you can't wait and want to jump early to your Greek holiday, Skyscanner is currently offering flights in April from just £135 returns. Even better, Ryanair now believes in flights from the UK to Crete in July.
