Given the weather the UK has been experiencing lately, what could be better than escaping the harsh, cold environment? It doesn't look like it's going to get warmer any time soon, so treat yourself to a holiday full of sun and sand. How about a reward?

Even better, you don't have to spend a fortune or travel far around the world. The opportunity to experience the perfect winter escape is just a few hours away by plane.

Gran Canaria is a beautiful island located just off the northwestern coast of Africa that is warm year-round and boasts numerous sandy beaches.

In fact, even February, the coolest month, is still warm with an average temperature of 22°C. Isn't it amazing? Flight comparison site Skyscanner is currently showing flights from Manchester Airport to Manchester Island for just £22 each way, and the journey takes just four hours.

You may have to pay extra for things like baggage and seat assignments, but round-trip ticket prices are similar, so this isn't a deal you want to miss.

Gran Canaria is the third largest island in the Canary Islands and is sometimes referred to as the “Little Continent” due to its diverse and varied topography.

This sun-drenched destination has around 60 kilometers of beaches along its 236 kilometers of coastline, all with their own unique vibe. So, whether you're looking to visit the island's lively hotspots like Maspalomas, known for its sand dunes and large lighthouses,

If you're looking for some relaxation and peace, whether you're alone or with your family, other options include beaches like San Agustín, Amadores, and Puerto de Mogán.

Relaxing on the beach is good for your health, but Gran Canaria takes it a step further. By the late 19th century, the island had become an important resort, welcoming thousands of tourists who came for its favorable climate and “medicinal waters.”

Tourists can find a number of spas and wellness centers scattered throughout the island, including the large spa at Azuache Verazales. The center offers the latest wellness treatments.

But behind the beaches, sun, and crystal blue water, this island has a rich history and culture to explore. It is a world heritage site created by the fusion of various cultures, and once you set foot on the island, you will be captivated by its environment.
