This cute country is a dream destination for many Brits, and is popular for its incredible beaches and scenic island views.

A South Asian island nation, Sri Lanka is known for its stunning landscapes, rich history, vibrant culture and warm hospitality.

Whether you're a nature lover, history lover, or beach lover, Sri Lanka has something for everyone.

A must-see location in the area is Sigiriya, an ancient rock fortress that is one of Sri Lanka's most famous landmarks.

A TripAdvisor visitor said: “I recently had the opportunity to visit Lion Rock in Sigiriya, which was an unforgettable experience.

“The climbing process took about 1,200 steps, but it was worth the effort.

“We avoided the heat and crowds that started early in the morning, making the ascent more comfortable. The panoramic views from the summit were breathtaking and offered a unique perspective on the lush landscape of Sri Lanka.”

April is one of the best times to visit the country due to pleasant weather where temperatures can reach up to 32c.

But not only this, but the country doesn't fall much in April, as the country usually only sees a random shower on the moon.

To absorb local culture, try Sri Lankan cuisine, wander around Gale Fort and celebrate the vibrant Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

The Sinhala and Tamil New Years also take place in April, offering a vibrant festival filled with traditional rituals, delicious sweets, family gatherings and lively games.

To see the beautiful scenery of the country, you need to visit Little Adam's Peak View Point.

One TripAdvisor visitor said: “Incredible view. It's definitely worth climbing. There's a small kiosk at the top where you can buy snacks, but I recommend bringing your own water bottle, especially on hot days.

“If you're looking for it, I also recommend following the path to the next peak, as the view from there will be even better.”

One of the best beaches to visit the area is Bentota Beach, a settlement with blue waters and bright white sand.

Sandy Beach offers incredible views and visitors say it's best to enjoy the sun early or late at night.
