With two more glorious bank holidays on the horizon, ideas naturally begin to drift into the idea of mini-breaks. But before you open the Skyscanner tab, if one British seaside town contains quiet beaches with stunning coastal walks, one British seaside town has everything.

On the southern coast of England, this East Sussex retreat between two popular towns, Hastings and Eastbourne, is famous for its slow pace of life. In the rough, known as the “God's Waiting Room” due to its older population, Bexil-on-Sie is known for its laid back atmosphere and there are no bustling crowds. The Single Beach, which spans approximately two miles, is a gem of Bexil and is one of the most rated experiences in town on TripAdvisor.

Visitors can take a stroll along the sea, suck up stunning views of the English Channel, drink cold waters into the quiet waters, or rent a quaint beach hut to fully embrace British seaside holidays.

This was shared by one of the TripAdvisor reviewers. “I moved to Bexil at the end of last year. I love living on the beach. I enjoy the quiet, calm pace of life.”

With historic architecture throughout town, Bexil is imbued with the nostalgic charm amplified by quaint shops, tea rooms and separate cafés.

Known for its artistic scene, the Delawa Pavilion – Modernist Grade I List Building is often the town's most iconic structure, hosting contemporary art exhibitions, live music and theatre events.

A short walk from the beach, Egerton Park is a great place for a quiet walk or picnic. There are plenty of green spaces, boat lakes, play areas, tennis courts and cafes.

The town has a local train station and bus connections are provided locally.
