Zambezi Helicopter Company (ZHC), a division of Shearwater Adventures, is nearing completion of its US$2.1 million airline facility in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. The new hub in the Chinotimba Industrial Area, scheduled to open in May 2025, replaces the company's previous base near the Elephant Hills Hotel and forms part of a broader effort to support its target to grow Zimbabwe's tourism sector to US$5 billion.
The development includes maintenance services for aviation management organizations, hangars, helipads, VIP lounges, restaurants, pilot training facilities and external operators. With demand for helicopter tours across waterfalls surged, it is expected to create local employment and increase operational capabilities. According to Dr. Clement Mukwasi of Shearwater, the project addresses the need for infrastructure expansion and reflects broader investment trends that transform Victoria Falls into a major African tourism destination.
