The £12,000 luxury Jamaican holiday of the Manchester family's dream turns into a “nightmare,” with 39-year-old Lucy Hyilton smashing the five-star resort for a “dirty” buffet and “broken furniture.” Hylton was terrified of finding his room in a dirty state.

Lucy and her husband Zata, 30, have driven out £6,000 for a comprehensive two-week stay at Royal Tunnel Grill, Jamaica. Lucy's parents, Sheila, 69, and Graham Hoy, 68, also paid £6,000. They were looking forward to celebrating Leo's first trip, reported in the Manchester Evening News.

    Luxury Resort

The resort boasts offering guests “a luxurious experience, appetizing gourmet food and excellent friendly service at every turn,” and “it was a nightmare from check-in.

“Our room was dirty,” she added. “Mom and Dad's room was horrifying. It was barely able to breathe, so the shower door was broken, the sofa was broken, and the TV was broken.”

The buffet's condition was completely shattered with its messy flooring and damaged fixtures. “The floor was dirty. It was incredible,” she said, reported the mirror.

    Holiday Horror

Lucy shared the horrors of the holiday experience and described the deplorable state of the accommodation.

Despite firing 6,000 pounds each for a comprehensive vacation, the family felt forced to eat elsewhere.

She recounted a particularly surprising episode involving her son Leo. The fire alarm in the next room was constantly gone.

    Chaos Strikes

“Our fire alarms were turned off every 10 minutes from 1am to 5am. They came and removed the noise-making bit. This is dangerous,” she continued.

As she explained, Chaos was sacrificed to the whole family. “Leo had to scream and wear an ear defender so I sat on the balcony until 5am. Some of the issues are small, but there are issues together.

Even her parents couldn't escape the pain: “My mother and father were desperate to go home from the third day.”

    Degraded

The lifelong holiday was sour for the family who saved the young Leo all year round to introduce him to his Jamaican family.

Their vacation was booked at TUI. This informed them of their downgrade from their coveted platinum range two months ago, but promised that the gorgeous five-star amenities would remain intact.

    The rage of battle

Following the uproar, the family saw improvements in cleaning rooms and offering alternative suites. They received a free beach cabana with waiter service and a goodwill voucher for future use.

However, the battle is furious as the couple demands a refund for hotel costs.

    A disgusting reaction

    Lucy aired her complaints.

“It felt terrible for mom and dad. I felt responsible. I recommended it, I felt responsible. My husband is very upset because there is an old taste in his Jamaican mouth. That's the legacy of his home country and his son.

    Company only

“He had high hopes for introducing Leo to his family.

“I'll never use tuui again,” she vowed. “Tui is the only company that flies from Manchester to Jamaica.”

    Jamaica is still the best

For Lucy, this visit represents her fourth resort. She claims it has been significantly reduced since previous Jaunt in 2021.

She expressed her disappointment, saying, “I always say Jamaica is the best Caribbean island, people are friendly, authentic and there's work to do, but this puts me off.”
