British tourists planning to visit Panama are being urged to be aware of updated travel regulations.
The country is known for its idyllic islands, rolling surf, pristine nature and incredible wildlife, attracting thousands of tourists each year, according to the Lonely Planet.
The Foreign, Federal and Development Agency (FCDO) has issued revised guidance for British citizens traveling to Central American citizens.
Connecting the two oceans, Panama is a biodiversity hotspot beyond the cosmopolitan capital and legendary canals, moving towards a complete digital system for immigration and customs declarations.
Paper format remains optional during the transition period, but authorities strongly recommend that travelers complete their immigration documents digitally before departure.
FCDO said:
Additionally, visitors must provide evidence of financial instruments and demonstrate that they own at least $1,000 (£807.51) or equivalent amounts in other currencies. Credit cards can also be used as proof of sufficient funds.
British citizens arriving in air or land can stay in Panama for up to three months without needing a visa. However, various visa requirements apply to those arriving at sea.
Expansions beyond the initial three months are not normally permitted unless the traveler is applied to change immigration status such as business or marriage.
The FCDO has warned against attempts to extend their stay by temporarily visiting neighboring countries and then re-entering Panama.
“The British Embassy cannot intervene in decisions made by immigrant staff in Panama,” the FCDO warned.
Additionally, travelers in the UK should be aware of the additional entry requirements for India.
FCDO has updated its guidance on mandatory registration procedures for foreign visitors. Please note that accommodation providers, including hotels and hostels, must register all foreign guests with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office.
With these new travel rules in place, UK tourists need to plan their trip to Panama.
