If you are flying from this UK airport, experts are urging passengers to allow extra time. There's nothing worse than putting your holiday at risk and starting a relaxing break with a stressful airport experience. If you are flying from Scotland's Rose Airport (BRR), try to arrive earlier than usual.

Rose is the only airport in the world where scheduled flights land and take off directly from the beach. The runway is the tide sand of Traigh Mhòr, and flight schedules are entirely dependent on the tide.

An expert at airport transfer company SCS drivers said:

“There's no rushing crowds. Just a small terminal with sand, the ocean and its own charm.”

SCS Chauffeurs reports an increasing trend in travelers booking previous pickup times to avoid stress and make the most of the airport.

Hadleigh Diamond, commercial director at SCS Chauffeurs, explained: “Running through the airport may have been all you wanted to come and go, but I'm embracing the idea of ”slow travel” that starts at the terminal.

“Some airports are worth arriving really early and can feel like an extension of the holiday, not just the beginning.”

Barra Airport has limited facilities on small sites, and the unpredictable weather in the area can mean delays and cancellations.

If you arrive early, you will not miss a boarding window that may shift based on tide conditions.

With just a handful of daily flights and minimal staffing, missing a flight can mean waiting more than a day.

Travelers are advised to check flight status regularly and plan extra time at the airport.

Despite the inconvenience, diving into the Barra remains a bucket list experience for aviation enthusiasts and adventure seekers.

SCS Chauffeurs recommend giving an extra 60-90 minutes to an airport with outstanding attractions, especially if you are flying at long distances or peak times.

“People think early check-in is about beating the queue,” adds Hadley.

Express.co.uk contacted Barra Airport for comment.
