It's not always in the spotlight, like its adjacent neighborhood, a picturesque village in Northumberland, home to less than 130 residents, but it's catching the eye of some well-traveled enthusiasts. Not only did they rank among the best in the region, they have also welcomed it as one of the cleanest villages in the UK, Chronicle Live reports.
Globetrotting couple Jonny and Hannah are founders of the popular Finding Our Adventure website and named the village of Blancheland, a small village in northeastern England, among seven locations on the “most beautiful in Northumberland” list. They write: “It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful villages in North England. It has a historically medieval monastery. This village is adjacent to the Derwent River.
Located within the Derwent River and the North Penneens area of outstanding natural beauty, Blancheland spans the borders of Northumberland and Durham County.
Blancheland's architecture and breathtaking scenery make postcards easy to decorate, as it is often praised as “painting perfection.” Famous for its first-class cuisine, the historic and seductive weapons of the crew are widely considered the highest glory of the village.
Blanchland also plays the White Monk Predictions and Tea Room host. Set in an old school, this charming facility appreciates its enjoyable environment and extraordinary fares.
The picturesque village is also used as a film and television shoot location, with Christopher Eccleston and Kate Winslet starring in the 1996 film Jude.
Wolfblood, a 2012 teen drama in Derwent Valley, uses Blanchland's Gatehouse and Square as one of the main sets of the early series, and features Blanchland as well as the long-time detective series Vera as the backdrop.
