Zimbabwe's Airport Company (ACZ) has announced plans to upgrade security infrastructure at three major international airports. The move is part of an effort to guide aviation safety standards in line with international regulations and position Zimbabwe as a hub for air travel in more competitive regions.
This upgrade follows a preliminary survey approved by the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency, followed by a full feasibility assessment once funding is secured. The initiative comes amid an increase in global aviation threats, including cybercrime and insider risk. With passenger volumes increasing and interest from international airlines, it is expected to boost traveller trust, particularly at Victoria Falls International Airport, a major gateway for tourism in the region.
