At the Consul Media Day event held on Friday, May 9, 2025, President Elliot Feltic reiterated the embassy's commitment to promoting a transparent and user-friendly visa process for Ghanaians.
“Last year we continued to welcome visitors from Ghana who are interested in studying, investing or implementing in the US, and issued 25,000 visas to Ghanaians. However, it is important to understand that individuals entering the US must comply with our laws,” Fertik said.
High rejection rate linked to application gaps
Although the embassies did not provide specific reasons for the relatively high visa refusal rate, such results are generally related to issues such as incomplete applications, ineligibility, or concerns about possible immigration intent.
“We want to ensure that Ghanaians are well informed about the visa application process and understand exactly what to expect from them,” emphasized Fertik.
A solid position regarding illegal immigration
The Consul General also highlighted the US government's strict stance on illegal immigration.
“The United States has zero tolerance for illegal immigrants. Those who break the rules face consequences, such as denial of visas or banning entry,” he warned.
Efforts to enhance transparency and customer service
Fertik further noted that the embassy is continuously improving its services to provide an efficient and transparent experience for applicants.
“We have implemented several measures to improve the overall experience of visa applicants. The State Department's top priority is to ensure the safety of US citizens overseas and to help those in need of assistance abroad,” he added.
