When heading to the state, you may find yourself visiting New York, Las Vegas, or Los Angeles and opting for a big city vacation. Even when choosing Florida, tourists often stick to visiting Disney World and other theme parks. However, when you do this, there are many things you will miss.

Travel experts recommend that anyone traveling to Florida add the city of Sarasota to their itinerary. Located at the southern tip of the Tampa Bay Area, Sarasota is less than two hours' drive from Disney World, so if you choose to stay in town, you can visit the happiest place on the planet.

Visiting Instagram, budget holiday finder Holiday Pirates highlights the possibility of Sarasota getting away, pointing out that direct flights from the UK could be cheaper than a holiday to Spain.

The expert wrote: “Most Britons don't run to this place for holidays, but they save this for the next holiday and grab a 7 night holiday that is cheaper than the cost of a week in Spain (£559pp).

“Are you planning on visiting an epic universe? Add Sarasota to your Florida itinerary and do the perfect relaxing beach break after the park's chaos. We also grabbed crazy prices at the 10-night twin centre starting at £899 on the hotel and flight.”

In addition to being a relatively budget-friendly option for anyone hoping to fly to the US, Sarasota also has the country's “best beaches.”

Siesta Beach is crowned by TripAdvisor as the best beach in the United States, and is also the fourth best beach in the world. It has stunning white sand and clear blue seas, so why is clear.

Sarasota is a great year-round destination with temperatures reaching 28°C even in the cold winter months. The city also receives an estimated 250 hours of sunlight per year.

Visitors to Siesta Beach have left rave reviews on TripAdvisor. “This is one of the most beautiful beaches we've been to. The cold white powdery sand on our feet is what makes this beach ranked number one in the US.”

Another addition: “Siesta Key is one of the best beaches I've ever visited, and I had the opportunity to walk, swim, watch dolphins and smoke the sun.

“White powdery sand looks like it's stretching for miles. The only downside is that its popularity creates a lot of traffic and lack of open parking.”

And the third simply writes: “Amazing location. Very spacious and vast beach with clear, warm and calm waters. Highly recommended.”
