United Airlines will feature the incoming Boeing 787-9 with a new business class suite and updated premium economy seats as part of the cabin that refreshes the cabin market as an interior for “elevated” aircraft.
Chicago-based United disclosed its plans on May 13, saying the update would “surge in international premium travel standards between US carriers.”
“We will never stand up and are constantly looking for more ways to separate ourselves from other careers, and we are confident that this heightened experience will take international flights to new heights.”
Before the end of the year, United hopes to receive their first 787-9 in their updated cabin.
The Jets are equipped with eight Polaris Studio Suites. This new product features “Privacy Door, Ottoman Seats for Friends,” a 27-inch seat back screen and a “wool blend” sheet that is 25% larger than United's standard Polaris sheets.
United will also provide passengers at Polaris Studios, including caviar.
The incoming 787-9 has 56 United's standard Polaris business class seats, but the airline will upgrade them to “add a suite door” and “sweet” and a 19-inch TV screen.
Plus, the Jet has 35 “renewal” premium economic seats. These seats have “Privacy splits and wireless charges.”
The 787-9 has a total of 99 business and premium economic seats compared to the 69 seats in United's existing 787-9.
The refresh corresponds to “nose-to-tail conversion,” adding that the jet will have a “finished finish and a fresher, brighter and warmer atmosphere.”
United plans to include the first 787-9 in its revenue service in 2026 on the route from San Francisco to both Singapore and London.
