United Nations Tourism has announced tourism to do business. It highlights the investment in Namibian guidelines, opportunities for international investors in the country's growing tourism sector. The report highlights Namibia's stable economy, rich cultural heritage and diverse appeal, and places it as an important investment destination. In 2023, the tourism sector donated 6.9% to GDP, generating US$348 million in international receipts, and foreign direct investments skyrocketed to US$2.610 million. Visitors in Namibia also increased significantly, with 863,872 international arrivals in 2023, an increase of 87.4% from the previous year.
The guidelines were launched during a visit to Namibia during a UN tourism visit and coincided with Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's first female president and 35th anniversary of independence. During the visit, Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili highlighted Namibia's commitment to sustainable tourism and investment, and also gave a keynote speech at the Namibian University of Science and Technology to utilize technology to strengthen the tourism sector in Africa.
