It is said that UK citizens and other eligible individuals may face delays or denials in their UK passport applications. As the bustling summer travel season approached, the Under His (HM) Passport Office issued a warning, urging first-time or replacement passport applicants to stick to certain guidelines.
A message from the official HM Passport Office X account on Monday said, “Passport is your most important travel document. It's worth spending time getting the correct time! Meet all your requirements before checking photos before submitting the application.
British passports can be applied by British citizens, British subjects, British citizens, British guardians, or international or foreign territories citizens. If the photo does not comply with certain regulations, the application may face denial or delays.
You can also follow government advice and use digital photos from photo booths and shops, or use your own devices. The photos must be of high quality, clear, in focus, color, unedited, and of the appropriate resolution size, but not exceed 10MB.
Photos should not contain other visible people or objects. It should stand out against the background. You also need to make sure there are no “red eyes” in the image.
In the photo, he should be facing forward, staring directly at the camera with a neutral expression on his face. Your hair should not interfere with your eyes. Your eyes should be open and completely visible.
Head coverings are not permitted unless for medical or religious reasons. There should be no shadows behind you or behind you, and don't wear glasses unless you need them.
If you need glasses, don't be sunglasses or colored. Do not cover your eyes with frames, shadows, glares or reflections. Although guidelines for young children vary slightly, children must be alone in the photo, without toys or using dummies.
Children under the age of 6 need not look directly at the camera or have neutral expressions. Babies under one year old do not need to open their eyes.
You can support their heads with your hands, but your hands should not be visible in the photo. The baby below must take a photo from above and lie on a plain, brightly colored sheet.
Further advice on gov.uk is, “Even if the appearance has not been changed, you should still take a new photo when you get a new passport. You must have taken a photo last month. If the photo doesn't meet the rules, the application will be delayed.”
