Uber will launch helicopter and boat rides this summer in a tourist-loved Italian region. Luxury travelers can book helicopter rides with Capri, while Uber boats cruise along the Amalfi coast.
Uber Copter sets off to Italy's luxury island of Capri, using a private, dual-engine, dual-pilot helicopter from Sorrento's exclusive helipad. Groups of up to six can advance book return flights of 250 euros (£212) per person or total of 1,500 euros (£1,276) including transfers from anywhere on the Amalfi coast.
In contrast, local boats from Sorrento to Capri range between 19 euros (16 pounds) and 27 euros (23 pounds) per person, depending on the operator. Travel times vary from 20 to 30 minutes.
Holiday makers of up to 12 can also book a four-hour private chartered cruise along the Amalfi coast via Uber boats with Gozzo 35 boats in Italy.
Private skippers depart from Sorrento Marina and sail along the iconic coast, allowing tourists to shore snacks and drinks inside the ship.
Uber Copter and Uber Boat will be available less than a month and run every weekend from July 26th to August 23rd. You can book from Uber Reserve from anywhere in Italy with a minimum of 48 hours of notification.
Helicopter rides depart from Sorrento at 9am and return from Capri at 5pm, but the four-hour cruise departs from Sorrento's marina at 10am.
Uber will also launch its planned Ride Service, Uber Reserve On Land, which hopes to meet demand after the launch of international flights at Salerno Airport.
“We're committed to providing a range of services to our customers,” said Anabel Diaz, vice president of Uber's EMEA Mobility.
Availability is expected to be affected by weather conditions.
