For the perfect “typically” British seaside day, look for this charming village of Kent. We are proud of our soft, three miles of delicate golden sand, and combined with a vibrant high street filled with classic fish and chips and plenty of ice cream, this is the ideal escape.
The Kent weather forecast suggests a great day ahead and is perfect for accepting the exhilarating ocean breeze. The beach beckons because there is plenty of coastal sun on the horizon. It is expected that there will be temperatures reaching fun 24C in parts of the county later next week, so soon the diary “Beach Day” pencil will be penciled. Along the coastline of Romney Marsh, one traveler praised Dimchurch as a “traditional British seaside village.”

Located about five miles from Hythe and previously crowned “the UK's best seaside holiday destination,” Dymchurch may not be a postcard, but compensates with distinctive shops, welcoming pubs and eateries that will bust with visitors during the peak season.
In 2024, Dimchurch Beach was awarded the Seaside Award from Keep Britain Tidy. Unfortunately, the less encouraging news is that the Environment Agency has downgraded its water quality rating from adequate to poor due to rising levels of bacteria, including E.COLI, leading to loss of blue flag condition, Kent Live reports.
As a result, visitors are advised to swim in the ocean. On the bright side, Dimchurch's soft sandy spread is perfect for building sand castles, engaging in games, seeking shells, winding up towels, and strolling across the vast beaches at low tide.

The promenade is also great, with full access to both wheelchairs and strollers. It then boasts the popular Dimchurch amusement park, which proudly earns 4 out of 5 stars on TripAdvisor, crediting 440 reviews.
One excited visitor said, “It's an overly twisted, what is it “typically English” morning? This is where the British go out to their hole that day – candy floss, waffles, and cheap but fun rides for little kids. ”
They praised the arcade's appeal: “Arcade full of 2P machines. It's worth a stop and I recommend it! Loved it, and so did my toddler.
Exploring further main street revealed the Martello Tower, a standing guard, over the beach. Despite its obvious appearance, people with historical trends should schedule their visits in advance.
Built during the turbulence of the early 1800s as part of British defense against the threat of French invasion, the tower is now preserved by English heritage. For those looking for a quaint trip, the Romney, Heiss and Dimchurch Railways are not worth overlooking.
This charming railway, which has adorned Romney Marsh since 1927, is known as the “miniature mainline” of Kent, one-third the size of a traditional steam and diesel locomotive.
It is happy to follow the 13.5-mile stretch from Heiss to Dungeness from the National Nature Reserve. Checking the timetable is advised, but it is an adventure that children will definitely worship.

There are four stations on the journey, each conveniently located within a short walk on the beach, allowing you to explore a variety of locations along the route. Awaiting your discovery are scenic coastal and country walks, abundant wildlife and plants, cycling trails, medieval churches and iconic lighthouses.
The base station is located in Neuromney, where there is more information and ticket prices. Dymchurch may not seem particularly attractive during dark weather, but when you get exposed to sunlight and warmth, it turns into one of Kent's most enjoyable coastal destinations.
Dog walking season ends on April 30th. After this date, dogs are prohibited from Dimchurch Beach until October 1st.
Beach parking is available near Martello Tower for £3.60 for 2 hours. The beach is only a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Alternatively, Dymchurch Central offers all-day parking for £12 and is easily accessible, just a 3-minute walk from the beach.
