The pilot and passenger were killed in the accident. This happened shortly after the King Air F90 took off from Campo del Marte Airport, where domestic flights were processed.
Six people were injured, Mello said.
The bus passengers managed to escape, leaving some of them with “bruised.” The motorcyclist passing by also fell and was seen by a doctor.
Images broadcast on local television showed thick smoke swirling into the air, but firefighters quickly controlled the flames.
Investigators are on the scene “take photos and interview people who witnessed the aircraft collision” to establish the circumstances of the accident, Mello said.
He said it is unclear whether the plane had attempted an emergency landing in the event of the accident.
Brazil has seen some dramatic small plane crashes over the past few months.
According to statistics from the Cenipa Center for Aviation Accident Investigation and Prevention (Cenipa), there were 20 aircraft accidents in January, killing eight people.

In 2024, the country recorded the most aircraft accidents in the last decade, with 175 crashes and 152 deaths.
