There are so many things to think about before going on a holiday abroad, and packaging is no exception.
Not only will you need to secure your passport, boarding pass, money and other important items, but there will also be additional stress to ensure that your luggage meets the correct requirements of the airline you are flying into. All airlines follow the same rules for those that are prohibited from being with passengers on board, but there are some differentiation in package size and allowances between carriers.
Some airlines allow passengers to consume multiple carry-on bags, while others may need to check their luggage in a hold if they do not meet the correct size requirements. If you go on a holiday for a week, you will have a big suitcase with you for your clothes, and this will be checked in at the airport desk upon arrival.
However, carry-on baggage rules may vary from airline to airline, so carry-on baggage rules need to be a little more careful. So, it's worth checking before you fly, so you won't get stuck in your luggage charges.
If you are traveling abroad during your holiday this year, these are the rules that you will be carrying a backpack as a carry-on item when flying on TUI, EasyJet, Ryanair, British Airways (BA) or JET2.
Twy
According to Tui's luggage policy, passengers are allowed to take one piece of baggage per person – except for babies. This bag can weigh up to 10kg and must be less than 55 x 40 x 20cm and must be stored in the seat in front of you.
Passengers can also carry small personal items such as backpacks, laptop bags, and handbags. The maximum dimensions are 40 x 30 x 20cm.
If you have just booked a flight, not a package holiday, the same hand luggage rules apply.
EasyJet
All EasyJet passengers can carry small cabin bags such as backpacks. This bag is the maximum size of 45 x 36 x 20cm and is not heavy at 15kg.
Passengers also have the option to carry a large cabin bag, which is 56 x 45 x 25cm, the maximum size, but this must be added to your booking at an additional fee. EasyJet Plus members or customers who booked a comprehensive plus rate can bring a large cabin bag in addition to a small bag as part of their membership or fare.
Ryan Air
All Ryanair passenger rate types include small personal bags that can be carried on board, but must fit under the seat in front of you. A small carry-on bag is a maximum size of 40 x 20 x 25cm backpack, handbag or laptop bag. All bags larger than these dimensions face extra charge.
Passengers can bring small cabin bags up to 55 x 40 x 20cm and maximum weight of 10kg onto the ship. This should be stored in an overhead locker on the plane. To bring in an extra cabin bag (in addition to small carry-ons), you can spend between 6 and 36 pounds at booking, or between 20 and 60 pounds after booking, or at the airport.
British Airways
The standard check bag weight allowance for British Airways is 23 kg per bag, and the number of check bags allowed for free will vary depending on your booking, cabin class and membership tier of the British Airways Club.
All passengers on British Airways, Ba Cityflyer and Ba Euroflyer can carry small bags such as backpacks and handbags, as well as cabin bags for basic fare flights. The small bag can be up to 40 x 30 x 15cm and up to 23kg and should be placed under the seat in front of you.
The cabin bag can be up to 56 x 45 x 25cm and up to 23kg and you may need to go to hold.
Jet2
JET2 passengers can carry one hand luggage free of charge, such as a backpack weighing less than 10kg and weighing less than 56 x 45 x 25cm. This bag should be placed under the seat in front of you.
Passengers can also carry one small seat bag, such as handbags, laptop bags, airport purchases, and even sizes not exceed 40cm x 30cm x 15cm.
