Hitting the slopes is an ideal way to spend your vacation and is a surefire trip that will keep the whole family entertained. If you're looking to book a vacation for your Easter holidays, it's never too late to get something in your diary.
SportsCover Direct shared its most affordable ski resorts in April. Looking at data from the 30 most popular ski resorts across Europe, the insurance company compared the cost of a six-day ski pass with the number of open slopes at each resort, revealing which ones give you the most valuable value. The European ski season usually ends in late April, so resorts often end operations during that month. This is great for adding more slope space, but it also leaves unlucky travelers with fewer routes to explore.
Therefore, when booking a trip, it is important to find ski resorts that still have plenty of slopes open.
SportsCover Direct revealed that Mayrhofen in Austria was the most affordable ski resort this April, with 90% of the trail still open in April. With a 6-day ski pass available for £246, it is a great option for travelers looking to be budget sensitive.
With the average cost of a day-to-day ski pass at European resorts rising to £55.58, a visit to Meirofen instead works at a more affordable price at £41 a day.
Sean Walsh, Head of Marketing at SportsCover Direct, said: “When planning a ski trip, affordability is an important consideration for many skiers. Beyond flights and accommodation, the cost of a ski pass can have a big impact on your overall budget.”
Just an hour from Innsbruck, Austrian town is home to Austria's steepest Piste, Harakiri. However, there are also many slopes for beginners. The ski resort also has many ski schools aimed at children.
Sean added: “To balance the best prices and skiable areas in April, Austria's Milehoven (295 euros) will offer unbeatable value at 90% still accessible later in the season.”
The list also found that a six-day pass at La Rocière, France costs only £241. This is cheaper than Mylofen. However, only 64% of the slopes are open in April. The Meilhoven on the list is Bormio in Italy, with 86% of the trail still open in April, with a six-day pass of £259, with another cost-effective option.
