Flight cancellations can be absolute pain for too many reasons to list and due to the inconveniences they cause many travelers to identify only to minimize the risk of cancellation. They tend to avoid airlines.
But now it's clear which airlines are the worst for cancellations.
Eastern Airways, one of the nation's leading domestic airlines, has been revealed to have the highest cancellation rate in 2024.
The telegraph used data provided by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), which oversees and regulates all aspects of civil aviation in the UK.
That information ranked major airlines with the best and worst cancellations, allowing Eastern Airways to bag the number one spot as the worst position.
The airline was reported to have one cancellation rate for every seven flights. Eastern Airways watches approximately 800,000 passengers fly with the airline each year. We operate domestic, international and private charter flights.
However, airlines are primarily domestic and serve small coastal and island airports where factors such as weather may play a role. Therefore, the results are less shocking.
British Airways made one cancellation for every 44 flights. EasyJet has made one cancellation for every 110 flights, making it even better.
However, when it became some of the best airlines, two budget airlines emerged strongly.
Ryanair was known for its budgetary offerings across many destinations in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, but last year it did very well. The low-cost airline has an incredible record of one cancellation per 607 flights, reaching fourth in the rankings.
In the number one spot, it was the UK's own JET2 that beat the kind of major airlines like Qatar Airways.
The airline, one of the nation's largest airlines and the UK's largest tour operator, also had a cancellation rate of just 33 flights with 54,074 departures from the UK.
