This cute town in Yorkshire has the world's oldest sweet shop and is worth a trip this summer. According to a Yorkshire man, the sweet shop has unparalleled expertise in confectionery and is housed in a building dating back to the 1600s. The shop is located on Patery Bridge and dates back to 1827.

From bonbons to fudge and pear drops, there's everything you can imagine inside. The Patelly Bridge is an idyllic place, located in the heart of Nidderdale, a national landscape (formerly known as the area of outstanding natural beauty).

It makes a great place to use as a starting point for many stunning walks nearby.

    A visitor on Tripadvisor said:

“I bought some sweets, including rhubarb and custard, white licorice allsort, river pebbles, river stones, rum chocolate, and the owner knew everything about each of the chatter and sweets. It's reasonably priced.”

The world's oldest sweet shop is located on High Street at Patelly Bridge. There are plenty of local butchers, cozy tea rooms and pubs.

If you're looking for something else in the area, you can visit the Niderdale Museum.

With 13 exhibition spaces and 15 life-size recreational processes, you will be immersed in the past lives of the people of Niderdale.

The collection has over 30,000 attractive items, so it's about displaying contextual items not only in glass display cases, but also in spaces such as school rooms, parlors, cobblers shops, warrooms, kitchens and more.

    A TripAdvisor visitor said:

“We all found it very interesting. It's worth a visit. The staff must be wonderful and proud of the gems that aren't too low. Thanks to you. Take your time and read through everything. You'll leave a smile on your face.”

Market Town is located in Yorkshiredale, so make sure you go out to a beautiful setting for a walk while you're there.
