Asian airports are welcomed as the best in the world with tropical features.
While going to the airport to start a trip or holiday can be a stressful and chaotic experience, Samui Airport on Koh Samui Island in Thailand is very different from many others. There is a large outdoor lawn waiting room full of bean bags, swings and palm trees, and you can even watch the plane take off without a barrier to separate passengers from the runway.
There are several airports in picturesque exotic locations, but the Samui Airport website claims that it “holds the crown as the best in harmony with the most beautiful and gorgeous natural environment.” Jessica Jae-in shared a video about Tiktok discussing her thoughts about Thai airport.
She said: “This is the best airport in the world where you can watch the plane take off and drink fresh coconuts while chilling in a bag of beans. You can usually find the airport experience to be quite stressful.
“It usually feels like everything is very confusing and very rushing, but this airport is different.” As Jessica walks through the airport, she finds a “really nice cafe” and then an open space with a bag of beans she described as “a big, soft bag of beans that you just sink in.”
She admitted that she could “maybe take a nap” while sitting in one of the comfortable, cushioned chairs. Jessica added: “What surprised me most is that there is no barrier to separate us from the runway, just like I trust that no one runs on the runway.”
The passengers continued. “The biggest part of this airport is that the cafe sells fresh coconuts, and obviously we had to get it.
“This costs £2.85. It was just so tasty. This is probably the most relaxed I've ever felt before boarding the flight.”
Jessica was even more impressed when she arrived at the gate and noticed a “courtesy counter” where she could get free food and drinks, including snacks, cupcakes and cookies. She also found a coffee machine where she could get juice and iced coffee.
Thai tourists concluded her Tiktok video. “This should be one of the best airport experiences I've ever had.” Samui Airport is privately owned and operated by Bangkok Airways.
Most flights from the island are operated by Bangkok Airlines. Thai Airways International began flights to Samui in February 2008.
Samui Airport is located in the north of Koh Samui, near Bot Beach. Construction began in 1982 and officially opened in April 1989.
Jessica's caption on Tiktok Clip said, “I never thought there would be an airport like this! It's the most relaxing thing I felt before I got on the flight.”
It received an astounding 1.1 million views, 49,800 likes and over 400 comments. One user said, “Samui Airport is the cutest airport I've ever seen.”
Second added: “Samui Airport is amazing. When I was there for the first time, it was just a hut.” The third said, “Samui Airport is unparalleled. It's part of the island-wide experience.”
