Imagine taking a train to another country.
If you've traveled by train late at night after a busy day at work or a busy day exploring a new place, you might have fallen asleep in your seat for a few minutes. There's no problem with this. It also happens on all public transport from trains to buses and even underground in London.
But has your snooze ever made you miss your stop? It's not uncommon for this to happen if you accidentally nod too much by mistake and go to some more stops than planned, but for one woman it had seemingly terrible results.
Lotty is now viral after sharing the video on Tiktok.
And when she woke up, she had a strange text on the phone from her network provider – claiming she is in France now.
In her video, Lottie explained that when she got on the train she announced that there was a “fire on the line.”
However, Lotty's stop was not affected, so she decided to stay on the train and take a short nap before the train arrived in London. She said she didn't know how long she was sleeping, but she woke up “bushy” on her phone in her lap to show that she had a text message.
The start of the message sent by the phone's network provider read “Welcome to France.”
This message continued to tell Lotti about the additional fees she faces for using her phone abroad, and what was included in her plans, as well as the websites she can find more information about the websites she can visit.
It certainly seems strange to ride a British train that ends in France rather than the Eurostar, but you can see that there is a very simple explanation as to where Lotty has come to be.
She didn't explain it in her video, but a few commenters quickly informed her that her train was likely detouring around Dover.
One said: “Essentially, you were detoured to Dover and as you walked past Sanfia Ho, your phone got a French signal. I'm a railroad worker who handles this regularly.”
Another addition: “I live in Dover. You must have been repurposed like this. You often click on the French network between Dover and Folkstone.”
