If you're a fan of quaint and timeless places, one Welsh town should be next on your travel itinerary.

Located on the edge of the Brecon Beacon, the charming town of Crickhowell is recognized as one of the best places to live in British National Parks.

It's not just the stunning Welsh landscape that sets Crickhowell apart. It's lifestyle.

The town subtly incorporates modern conveniences while maintaining traditional charm, making it ideal for those seeking opportunities to explore attractive shops and pubs for a slower pace of life. It is a destination.

According to the National Park of Brecon Beacons, top activities include visiting the ruins of a 13th century castle, hiking Crug Hywel (also known as Table Mountain), and walking along the USK River.

There are also pints in the microbreweries and taprooms of Clip Holl Walking Festival and Greenman Festival, Family Run Black Mountain Smoke and Entle Brewery.

Crickhoher's High Street, which won the UK's best high street in 2018, is a fascinating throwback to a simpler era. The streets are lined with independent shops that have been around for decades, creating a healthy village atmosphere.

It's the kind of place where you could bump into a familiar face just like you see a new face.

Among the various indie businesses are old furniture stores, bakeries and cafes run by three sisters in old courtrooms, Wales reports online.

Webbs, a family-run department store that opened its doors in 1936, has also stood the test of time. Here you can buy anything from household items to clothing, absorbing slices of history that are not often found in big cities.

Book-Ish is a fun, independent bookstore and another must-see location on this high street, perfect for browsing bestsellers for hours or discovering something more niche.

Returning to the topic of pub, foodie or pint fans is pleased to know that there are plenty of options to eat, drink and relax at Clickhowell.

For example, Bear Hotel and Dragon Inn are well known for their classic Welsh cuisine made from local produce.

They boast a typical “proper” pub vibe that makes customers feel instantly at home, according to recent visitors.
