Mainland Tanzania welcomed 794,102 international tourists between January and May 2025, up 3.7% from the same period in 2024, and 54.3% at pre-pandemic levels recorded in 2019.
Kenya emerged as a major source market for five months, contributing to over 93,000 visitors. Other top markets include Burundi, the US, France and Italy. Monthly data showed consistent growth, with peaks arriving in January and February. This figure strengthens Tanzania's continued appeal as a major destination in East Africa, and has steadily raised interest from both regional and long-distance markets.
