Every year, millions of British people fly to Spain, immerse themselves in the sun, enjoy the country's stunning beaches and explore the city. Spain has always been a favorite destination for British holiday makers, and is set to the same this summer.
However, just like traveling abroad, travelers to Spain must be aware of certain regulations. This is especially important given the recent changes.
Spain has adhered to Schengen's rules, which means that after Brexit, British passport holders will need documents to have a “issue date” within 10 years of their arrival date. It also requires an “expiration date” at least three months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen area.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states, “Please check with your travel provider that your passport and other travel documents meet the requirements. Please update your passport if necessary.
“If you do not have valid travel documents or try to use a passport that has been reported to be lost or stolen, your entry will be denied.”
Visa-free trips to the Schengen region, including Spain, are permitted for up to 90 days in 180 days, for visits as tourists, visits to loved ones, for meetings, cultural and sporting events, short-term research and training. If you plan to work in Spain, various rules apply.
Upon arriving in Spain, if you are staying on your property, you may need to present proof of sufficient funds for your stay, proof of sufficient funds for your stay, travel insurance documents, and proof of your hotel reservation or address. If you are staying with a third party such as family or friends, you may need an invitation or proof of address.
Importing meat, milk or products in Spain is prohibited, with exceptions including powdered baby milk, baby food, special foods and pet feed needed for medical reasons.
And if you have cash or have a check for travelers worth more than 10,000 euros, you must notify the authorities.
After you declare, you will receive a certification declaration indicating that the money has been brought with you. Failure to prepare this document may result in the money being confiscated upon departure.
