The easiest way for travel professionals to get a free first class flight upgrade | Travel News | Travel

Flights are very expensive, especially if you fly long distances and need an upgrade like extra legroom or premium seats. Flying Business or First Class is one of the most luxurious travel experiences offered by airlines, with the hefty price tag that comes with it.

However, there are a few tips and tricks to bag free plane upgrades from the airline. One airline insider joined Reddit's travel forum and explained several ways you can try out a free upgrade.

    They wrote:

“If confirmation is not approved, the next person in line will receive the upgrade when they arrive and print their boarding pass.

“The upgrade will be 99% gone before the plane boards, and if not, call the next person on the list.”

However, Skyscanner, a search engine for finding travelers to be the best deals on flights and more, suggests traveling in quiet times.

They said that booking flights during bank holidays and other times in the year when business users are less likely to fly is more likely to have free upgrades.

However, you may need to invest in getting a flight upgrade.

This may not be possible to get an upgrade immediately, but you may spend a lot of money on one flight and get returned on the next flight with a free or inexpensive upgrade.

    Frequently Skyscanner users say:

You can also stick to flying with the same airline every time you travel, as rewards can accumulate.

Being loyal to a particular airline while flying can be one of the most important advice when you want to receive an upgrade.

Skyscanner recommends getting earlier to your flight as upgrades are more likely to become available.

However, some passengers may not like this. This is because it can mean spending a few extra hours at the airport.
