The expected countdown for the reopening of Xugana Island Lodge begins!
Desert & Delta Safaris is ready to welcome guests to the iconic Okavango Delta Gem soon: April 15, 2025
In 2024, Desert & Delta Safaris announced the temporary closure of the long-established Xugana Island Lodge. Well, the forecast for this epic reopening on April 15th, 2025 will soon be replaced by awe. Awaiting guests is truly special thanks to consistent and stunning considerations throughout the Desert and Delta safaris portfolio.
Xugana Lagoon, home to the Xugana Island Lodge, had an impact on the reconstruction. Widely known as the most spectacular permanent water site in the entire Okavango Delta, the newly renovated lodge is set to reflect the pure splendor of the area.
Expect authentic celebrations of nature, luxury, epic adventures and tranquility. Everything is intertwined with extraordinary service and soul.
The Xugana Island Lodge renovations were carried out with a focus on maximizing annual experience while minimizing environmental impact. The intimate size and considered design of the lodge allow visitors to enjoy the beauty of the Okavango Delta without compromising the delicate ecosystem.
The Xugana Island Lodge is set to impress:
With a maximum capacity of 22 guests, privacy and tranquility remains central, but the lagoon views are unparalleled. The lodge's rich history and rapid elements and ode to consistent excellence.
Nature is a hero with the entire lodge and its series of activities. Xugana Lagoon is Africa's largest and most adoring oasis, and its location makes Xugana Island Lodge a year-round waterway paradise, offering guests the opportunity to experience countless deep waterways, open flood plants and a diverse range of wildlife.
The Xugana Island Lodge retains its beloved essence and now features some exciting highlights.
1. Water Fire Deck: With an outstanding addition that stretches across the island, guests can step directly into the edge of the water and enjoy a panoramic view under the open sky.
2. Pool and bar heading towards the lagoon: The swimming pool has been repositioned to provide a drastic view of the lagoon, while the Rondabelle-style bar is a great place to order cocktails.
3. Uncompromising connection with nature: The processing plants, reception and dining areas are built into a spacious multi-level deck, offering a high vantage point of the area set under the ebony and African mangosteen trees.
4. Conscious expansion: Two new rooms and family suites have been added to previously unexplored areas of the island, maintaining privacy and isolation while minimizing environmental disruption. As a dedicated steward of the environment, Desert & Delta Safaris supports a spirit of minimal impact by introducing cutting-edge power plants, making it fully operational from the grid. Additionally, the use of durable, lightweight materials reduces transportation demand and protects delicate ecosystems.
5. Water-based Safari: As a water-based camp, Xugana Island Lodge offers unique activities such as guided motorboat safari, Mokoro (traditional canoe) excursions, and catch-and-release fishing for bream and tiger fish. Guided walking safari is comprehensive and takes place on the surrounding islands. A scenic helicopter flight is required for an aerial delta interview (additional charges apply).
6. A gorgeous tent that includes:
Fresh decoration reflecting the blue tint of the lagoon
Enclosed deck with lagoon views, perfect for indoor and outdoor living
Outdoor shower
Private bathroom with indoor shower and double vanity
Spacious writing desk and closet for storage
The renovated and remodeled features combine to create a luxurious and immersive stay in one of Africa's most notable regions, providing an unparalleled opportunity to connect with natural beauty based on the conservation of the desert and delta and commitment to sustainable tourism.
