The “coolest” place to live in the UK has been revealed – it's not London | UK | Travel

Digbeth in Birmingham was named one of the coolest places in the UK.

According to a new survey, if you edit the list of the coolest postal codes in the country, Digbeth's Zip Code B9 is one of the top-level locations.

Describing Digbet as the perfect “Brummie Brats,” the Sunday Times writes that the area, once a “Beat Industrial Heart” in Birmingham, has now become Ground Zero for “365 Party Girls (and Boys).”

They continued: “This graffitiful neighborhood vibe has been converted into a warehouse with club culture at its gateway. Club Colette is housed in an abandoned fried chicken shop hidden under the arches of a Victorian railway.

“There's even a touch of glamour. The local production facility, Digbeth Rock Studio, is where the upcoming Peaky Blind film, the inter-Birmingham drama starring Chilean Murphy and Barry Keogan was filmed.”

Despite all this, Digbeth remains true to the industrial roots. Birds' former headquarters (known for custard) has now been transformed into a custard factory where many creative businesses live.

Describing the area, Digbeth's website reads, “A growing neighbourhood of eclectic individuals and innovative businesses in Birmingham's former industrial heartland. A place with endless possibilities and fearless and inventive spirit.”

The coolest list of postal codes is BT56, the zip code for Portrush, Northern Ireland, with its stunning coastline and three blue flag beaches.

The third on the list was CH2 (Hoole, Chesire). This era is described as being perfect for “delicious mummies” thanks to indie spirit, cool café culture, pregnancy-friendly fitness classes and studios.

And for those who want to find London on their list, you need to scroll a bit through the London postcode alone and enter the coolest postcodes in the top 11.

Penge's postcode SE20 is the ninth place on the Times list, and is known as London's “best guarded secret,” adding that this is “the most desirable postcode south of the river.”

“Cool” places to live in the UK:

    1. Digbeth, Birmingham

    2. Portrush, Antrim County

    3. Fool, Chesia

    4. Fittleworth, West Sussex

    5. Farsley, Leeds

    6. Newnham, Gloucestershire

    7. Newlyn, Cornwall

    8. Newport, Pembrokeshire

    9. Penge, London

    10. Hull in East Yorkshire

    11. Port Ellen, Isley
