Moving through airports can certainly be painful, whether you arrive or leave, with long lines for security and border control.
However, according to reviews left by travelers, some airports are known to run a little more smoothly than others as DiscoverCars.com recently conducted research to discover which airports around the world offer the best experience.
As part of this study, 3,500 travelers left feedback to rank airports visited on a scale of 1-10, with Christchurch New Zealand's top of the 19 people who received over 50 reviews.
Christchurch has won 9.21 out of 10 people to provide the best airport experience, and travelers reported having a comfortable overall experience, including excellent customer service and easy airport navigation.
One holiday maker commented on a “smooth and easy experience” at Christchurch Airport.
New Zealand took first and second place in the rankings, heading to Queenstown Airport for 9.18 out of 10 points. People who came and went to Queenstown reported that they were having a pleasant experience overall.
Like Christchurch Airport, one traveler who landed in Queenstown said the airport was “great, easy to ride and no hold-up.”
Queenstown was closely followed by Portuger's Madeira Airport, with a score of 9.07. After a trip from Madeira, one commenter wrote: “The airport has all the necessary facilities and is a comfortable place to wait for your flight.”
However, at the other end of the spectrum, Marrakech Airport came to its final location, but the score of 7.58 is still relatively problematic. It was preceded by Bergamo and Rome's Fiumicino, 8.10 and 8.24, respectively.
Commenting on the findings, Aleksandrs Buraks, director of growth at DiscoverCars.com, said:
“Flying can be a stressful experience for many people, so landing can cause problems at the airport and we want to start our trip the last time.
“Our research shows that travelers appreciated a smooth and easy experience when passing through the airport, something that both the top five New Zealand airports offer.
“There was no problem and the overall quick experience seemed to be what travelers wanted most from the airport experience.
“This makes sense. When you land or leave the airport, you want to start your holiday or get home as soon as possible.”
