The iconic British seaside town is loved by some Brits, but others are not impressed by it. In many British towns, as summer continues, you will see a herd of stay makers visiting the coast. Many of these towns are famous for their entertainment, theme parks, pubs, restaurants and piers. One of them is Margate, loved by generations of British people. Located in Kent on the eastern coast of southern England, Margate attracts a huge number of visitors seeking beach fun.

Some worship Margate, but others really didn't enjoy their recent visit. With summer beginning and the UK enjoying the heat wave, it's time to decide which seaside town to visit this summer. Margate is a difficult choice, some people praise it, others rip it apart. Margate is a relatively large town with a population of over 63,000 people. More people are in town in the summer, but not all of them are in love with a place where they find themselves.

Margate is a British seaside town popular among generations. Famous sites here include beaches, Dreamland, Margate Caves and many pubs in the town.

The spot has received some rave reviews from previous visitors. A TripAdvisor reviewer wrote: “I hadn't been to Margate since I was a kid in the 1970s. At the time I especially loved the Benbross in Dreamland, purely to see the nicest sunsets.”

Another share: “A beautiful and safe beach, clean and clean beach fun. The promenade is well-maintained and plenty of traditional seaside attractions. Easy access from the train station for a day trip.”

However, others were not impressed by their recent trip to Margate. One said: “We used dirty, dirty, dirty trash all over the ocean and the beach, glass bottles, diapers, cans floating around the ocean and the beach.

Another said, “I visited here about 10 days ago. The beach was sandy, but not particularly clean. There was no one except for the homeless people sleeping and gang of children drinking beer. The sea looked beautiful on the day we visited. Margate was very overwhelming.

The third comment states: “After hearing all the hype about the front of Margate Beach and the town, we decided to visit one day while in the area. I don't know why it bothered us, the harbor is black with oil and fuel. The beach is littered with trash.

Opinions about Margate are clearly divided. Nevertheless, the town is consistently recommended for anyone looking for a day by the seaside. Condé Nast Traveler lists it as one of the best seaside towns to visit in the UK.

“The appeal of Margate officially has captured a new generation of visitors, and recharged the elderly returnees staring at the sandy swathe with a view of entertainment fronts and nostalgia,” the publication said.

If you're visiting Margate with bad reviews, there are plenty of seaside towns in Kent. Examples include Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Whitstable, and Folkestone.
