The best and worst seaside towns in the UK have been revealed. Which one? Last year we surveyed more than 3,800 people about their experiences with UK seaside destinations.
They asked about their opinions on standards such as beaches, views, food and drink offerings, accommodation, tourist attractions, and money value. For the fifth consecutive year, Northumberland's Bambara is at the top of the list. The overall destination score was 84%, giving 5 stars for the beach, seaside, scenery, peace and tranquility. One visitor said: “It's a gem. The beach is sandy and clean, stretching for miles. There are plenty of walks.
At the bottom of the table is Bognaregis in West Sussex. One of the most sun-easy places in the UK mainland ended at 36% in the last place and won one star in most categories. One visitor called it “a devastated seaside town.”
Some survey respondents suggested that the investment would allow the town to restore its glory day. Several developments are underway, including a £8 million revitalization of the arcade shopping centre.
The towns of Best Seaside also included Beer from Devon, St. David of Pembrokeshire and Dungenes of Kent. Among the worst were Bangor in Gwyned, Southend on Sea in Essex and Blackpool in Lancashire.
