Taag Angola Airlines plans to begin a direct route between Luanda and Houston by 2027. Angola is Category 1 safety rating by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The route connects Quatro de Feveriro International Airport in Luanda and George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, marking the only non-stop service between the two cities. The news follows the airline's addition of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, and plans to operate long-haul routes.
Houston Services forms part of TAAG's wider fleet modernization strategy aimed at expanding long-range capabilities. The new Dreamliner, leased from Aercap, will seat 313 passengers in three cabin classes and will complement existing widebody aircraft on international routes to destinations such as Sao Paulo, Havana, Lisbon and Frankfurt. The Angolan Flag Carrier, which currently operates a fleet of 26 aircraft, has three more ordered 787s to support their growth plans.
