Ethiopia is seeing a revival in the hotel and tourism sector, driven by a government-led infrastructure project aimed at establishing Addis Ababa as a continental hub for conference tourism. Aster Solomon, president of the Addis Ababa Hotel Owners Association, spoke to Fana Digital and emphasized the developments of the Adwa Victory Memorial and Addis International Convention Center to attract international events to the capital.
According to Solomon, this new focus has revitalized the hotel industry, previously affected by stagnation and global travel disruptions. Government efforts, including urban development and logistics upgrades, have improved the visitor experience and created new investments in hospitality. She noted the importance of supporting incentives such as continuous expansion of facilities, workforce development, and tax exemptions to stay competitive in the growing conferences, incentives, conferences and exhibition (mouse) market.
