The Costa del Sol is facing the problems of paraquiets in a rapidly growing population.
This issue has been underway since the 1970s and 1980s with officials keen to do something about it.
The one-year contract was signed by the town hall of Fuengirola to tackle the issue of growing the population of Paraquiet. However, this is expected to expire in March.
Authorities are putting it up to bid again on a budget of 79,408 euros (66,265 pounds).
The issue first began when these bird owners began releasing them at the same time that other specimens escaped and settled in the area's parks and wooded areas, the report says. Masu.
Because of this, paraquites began to breed, and in a short period of time the population expanded rapidly.
Officials say there is a “worrisome trend” in terms of population growth.
“The current contract for the Bird Population Control Service will expire on March 25th. Therefore, Paraquiets will become a problem of conserving biodiversity in Fuengirola parks and green spaces, and risk of falling tree nests and branches. It has become a problem of gender risk and it is necessary to ensure continuity of contracted services, and the house has been described with documents issued by City Hall.
“Their easy adaptation to the various habitats they colonize and their high reproductive success rates mean that the population is growing every year.
“In light of this upward trend and constant complaints from neighbors suffering from the inconvenience caused by bird behavior, Fuengirola City Hall must take action in accordance with current law,” the document states.
Paraquito is captured in several sources that claim this is done in cages rather than aggressive systems such as shooting birds with pellets.
Birds are generally considered the smallest of all parrot species and are usually kept as pets.
They are some of the most popular pet birds, as they are not only affordable, but also because they are friendly and easy to tame.
Parakeets are more difficult to understand than other parrots, but can be taught to mimic human speech.
