Spanish weather experts predict “severe heat” this week after the public began to burn with temperatures above 40°C over the weekend. On Sunday, June 8th, parts of Sevilla and Cordoba were exposed to temperatures above 42c.
And in a previous update on Twitter X, Spanish national weather agency Aemet today said “the upcoming weather will be more typical of “July” with 'extreme heat', with an exception. Originally in Spanish, “Temperatures will be typical of July, except that Wednesdays and Thursdays will be normal.
“Today and tomorrow, we are expecting intense heat, with highs above 36c in the central and inland areas of the Iberian Peninsula and Ebro Valley. Highs are also expected in the Ebro Valley on Wednesday.”
Aemet said he was “hoping for cloudy and thunder showers north, central and east of the peninsula.”
From Thursday to Sunday, it expects the condition to be “mainly no sunny rain.”
“In a wide area,” he added, “temperatures exceed 34°C for most of the week.” Earlier this month, forecasters predicted that Spain will be “warmthier than average” this summer.
The UK Foreign Office explains that “extreme weather can have an impact over many parts of Spain, especially over several months of summer,” and urges Brits to follow British and European weather services for serious warnings.
