Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille has launched a special outreach programme to Ghana from March 26th to 26th, aiming to strengthen tourism partnerships between the two countries and promote cultural exchanges.
As part of the outreach programme, Minister Delhir will engage South Africa and tourism stakeholders to showcase Ghana's Minister of Tourism, Culture, Creative Arts, Honor, Abra Difa Gomasier, South African Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Trade, Key Media and Tourism stakeholders as attractive leisure and mouse (destinations for conferences, conferences, exhibitions).
The relaxation of visa regulations between the two countries in November 2023 was a progressive step that helped unlock important tourism possibilities. It also marked a new chapter that will enhance tourism and trade and create a seamless journey for both South Africans and Ghanaians to experience the beauty and diversity that Ghana and South Africa have to offer. The development also opened the door for increasing business, leisure and cultural exchange.
“Ghana and the wider African continent are very important markets for South Africa's tourism sector. This visit reaffirms our commitment to deepening partnerships and unlocking opportunities for growth through meaningful collaboration. The introduction of the visa waiver in November 2023, coupled with consistent marketing through tourism in South Africa, allowed citizens of both countries to travel from each other for up to 90 days without a country visa in the country within a year,” Minister Delhir said.
Minister Delhir's visit remains additional importance as it occurs in the year South Africa proudly hosts the G20 summit. This is an important opportunity to highlight the growing influence on South Africa's global stage and its commitment to foster meaningful partnerships across the African continent.
“We recognize the vast possibilities of travel within Africa to share economic development, cultural exchange and prosperity. This is why we are implementing this outreach mission to strengthen our relationships and partnerships with our Ghana counterparts,” added Minister Delil.
The outreach programme also allows senior officials from both countries to become more involved in bilateral tourism issues and strengthen relations.
